Key dates

• <b>2025</b> — PFAS Protection Act (HB 212) enacted by the New Mexico legislature.
• <b>May 5, 2026</b> — rule 20.13.2 NMAC published.
• <b>July 1, 2026</b> — rule effective.
• <b>Jan 1, 2027</b> — first product <b>reporting</b> deadline through the NMPRS portal.
• <b>Jan 1, 2027</b> — product <b>labeling</b> requirement begins (manufactured-after date) and first <b>ban wave</b> (5 categories).
• <b>2028</b> — second <b>ban wave</b> (9 more categories).

The reporting, labeling, and ban obligations each have their own triggers — a product can be reportable and label-worthy while not yet banned, so each is checked separately.
